A free screen recorder with no watermark
Viddy records your screen on a Mac, or in your browser at viddy.lol/record, and never adds a watermark. That is true on the free plan and on every paid plan. The free plan has a monthly recording allowance instead, listed on pricing.
Does Viddy add a watermark to free recordings?
No. Viddy has no watermark on any plan, free or paid. Free and paid recordings go through the same encoding, so the video your viewers see is the same either way.
What the free plan limits is how much you record each month and how long recordings are kept. The numbers are on pricing.
What can you record for free?
In the Mac app you can record the whole screen, one window, one app, or a region you drag out. You can add your camera as a floating bubble, your microphone, and the sound your Mac plays, so the other side of a call is in the recording.
In the browser at viddy.lol/record you can record a screen, a window or a tab with your mic, with no install. It needs a recent Chrome, Edge or Firefox on a computer, and you sign in first.
- Pause and resume: paused time is cut out, so there is no gap in the video.
- Mute your mic, or mute everything, without stopping. Muted parts stay in as silence so the timing holds.
- Change every recording shortcut in Preferences.
- Windows is in early access on the download page.
Is there a time limit on each recording?
In the Mac app a single recording has no length cap of its own. Long recordings upload in pieces, so a long meeting works the same way as a short demo.
On the free plan the limit is your monthly recording allowance. A recording made after the allowance is used is still saved, and kept for a short time unless you upgrade. The exact rules are on pricing.
What do you get besides a clean video?
Every recording gets a transcript you can click to jump to that second, an automatic title, and a share link. On a Mac the transcript is made on your own computer, so the audio is not sent anywhere for transcription. Transcripts are in English.
While you record, you can mark an important moment or write a note pinned to that second. They show up as dots on the timeline when you or your viewers watch it back.
- Share as private, anyone with the link, or only your teams. Add a password if you want one.
- Cut parts out from the transcript or on the timeline. The original is kept, and you can restore it.
- Export the transcript as text or as subtitles.
Can you ask AI about a recording?
Yes, through Claude or another AI tool you already use. You connect it to Viddy once with MCP, and it can read your transcripts, notes and tasks, search what was said, and suggest cuts for you to approve.
You ask in Claude, Claude Code or Cursor rather than inside Viddy, for example "list the bugs I marked in yesterday's recording". Setup takes a few steps on the MCP install page, and the connection is included on the free plan. You use your own Claude or Cursor account.
How does this compare with the free Mac recorder?
macOS has a free recorder with no watermark built in, and it saves to your desktop unless you choose another folder. Press Shift, Command and 5, pick the whole screen or a part of it, and choose a microphone under Options. On macOS 27 or later, Options also has Include System Audio for the sound your Mac plays.
Use it when you want a file on your desktop and nothing else. Use Viddy when you want a link to send, a transcript, and moments you can find again, or when your Mac runs macOS 26 or earlier and you need your Mac's sound. Checked November 2026 on Apple's support page.
How does this compare with Loom's free plan?
Loom also says it adds no watermark, including on its free plan. Its free Starter plan limits each screen recording to 5 minutes and allows up to 25 videos per person. Checked November 2026 on Loom's pricing page.
Viddy's free plan limits recording time per month instead of the length of each video, so one long recording is fine. The full comparison is on our Loom alternative page.

Questions
Is Viddy really free with no watermark?
Yes. No plan, free or paid, adds a watermark. The free plan limits monthly recording time and how long recordings are kept; the numbers are on pricing.
Is there a free screen recorder with no watermark and no time limit?
Viddy does not cap the length of a single recording in the Mac app. The free plan has a monthly recording allowance instead. Pro has no monthly limit, with fair use printed on pricing.
Does Viddy record audio from my computer, not just my mic?
Yes, in the Mac app. "Record other people's audio" is on by default, so the sound your Mac plays, such as the other people on a Zoom, Meet or Teams call, is in the recording and the transcript.
Can I record in the browser with no watermark?
Yes. Sign in at viddy.lol/record and record a screen, window or tab with your mic in a recent Chrome, Edge or Firefox, with no watermark there either.
Can I download my recording as an MP4?
Yes. As the owner you can always download a recording as an MP4. Viewers with the link can download it only if you allow it.
Does Viddy work on a phone?
Not for recording. Viddy records on a Mac, on Windows in early access, or in Chrome, Edge or Firefox on a computer.
