Connect Claude to Viddy
Ask Claude about your calls and recordings: pull transcripts, find the moment something was said, read the notes people left.
What Claude can do once connected
- List and search your recordings
- Read a full timestamped transcript
- Find where a phrase was said, across all recordings
- Read the notes viewers left, with timestamps
- Edit a recording while you watch, and you apply it
Claude never records or deletes your videos. A few tools can change things when you ask: suggest cuts, apply them, manage your teams and share a video with a team. When you ask Claude to edit a video, it first asks whether to edit that video or make a separate copy, and tells you how much video that stores. Then it gives you a link to a live page where you watch each cut appear on the timeline, with the reason for it. Each cut has a number, and before applying you can undo any cut or move its start and end. If you ask, Claude can also clear all its cuts and start again on the same page, or discard the session. It can also make a clip: one part of a video kept as a new video, which you can adjust on the same page before you apply it. Nothing changes until the session is applied, and you can discard it instead. When you edit the video itself, you always apply it yourself on that page. For a copy or a clip, Claude can also apply it after you say yes in the chat. When you edit the video itself, the original recording is kept and you can restore it. A copy is a new private video and leaves the original as it is. Claude can also suggest cuts with a preview link and apply them after you say yes in the chat. The consent screen lists every permission and marks the ones that write. With the npm package below it can also upload a video file from your computer and hand back the share link; uploads are private unless you ask for a public link. You can revoke access any time from Connected apps.
Claude Code one paste
Copy this, paste it into Claude Code, and Claude sets it up for you. The one step it cannot do is approve access: a Viddy page opens in your browser, where you sign in and click Allow.
Set up the Viddy MCP server for me. 1. Run this command: claude mcp add --transport http --client-id viddy-mcp --callback-port 8791 --scope user viddy https://viddy.lol/mcp 2. Then tell me to run /mcp in Claude Code, choose viddy, and sign in and click Allow in the browser window that opens. 3. When I say it is done, call the viddy whoami tool to confirm the connection, and tell me in two lines what you can now do with my Viddy recordings.
It is added for every project on this computer. If the Viddy tools do not show up straight away, restart Claude Code.
claude.ai, Claude Desktop and Cowork no install
- In Claude, open Settings → Connectors → Add custom connector (in Cowork: the + button, then Add custom connector).
- Name it Viddy and paste this URL:
https://viddy.lol/mcp
Claude opens a Viddy sign-in page; approve access and you're connected. Then ask things like “summarize my call with Acme from Tuesday” or “where did we talk about pricing?”
Need file uploads, or using Cursor? Show
The npm package runs on your computer, which is what lets Claude upload a video file from it. Install it once:
npm install -g @unpuzzle/viddy-mcp
Claude Code
claude mcp add viddy -- viddy-mcp
Cursor / Claude Desktop
{
"mcpServers": {
"viddy": { "command": "viddy-mcp" }
}
}The first time Claude uses a Viddy tool, your browser opens the Viddy consent screen. Sign in, click Allow, done: tokens are stored locally (~/Library/Preferences/viddy-mcp/auth.json on macOS, ~/.config/viddy-mcp/auth.json on Linux) and refreshed automatically.
Access & privacy
- Claude only sees recordings you own, through a token issued to you. The consent screen lists every permission, and marks the ones that write.
- Tokens expire and rotate; revoke a connection any time under Connected apps.
- Transcripts are produced on your Mac by the Viddy desktop app; recordings without a transcript are listed as such.
